My expectations for this class and how I plan to make it work.

 I recently read the first chapter of my college textbook, Allyn & Bacon Guide to Writing, by John D. Ramage; John C. Bean; June Johnson, for my writing class. It opened up some expectations of what I expect to learn about. The first chapter acted as an introduction and really emphasized obtaining critical thinking skills, in other words, not taking information from the text at base level. I think most of all people have used critical thinking skills in lower levels of education but have not actually connected the dots that they were actually critical thinking. I expect this class to emphasize me writing while utilizing critical thinking knowingly. To make this work, I believe I just need to stay mindful about the words I am putting on paper and the credibility of sources I may come across. I personally haven't encountered this version of learning writing so I think it will be really neat to see how I evolve as a writer throughout the semester.
